How to Read the Torah
By Shlomo Yusba
Reading the Torah is not difficult to master; it just requires knowing the
the special "niggun" or notes by which the Torah is chanted. The notes are not the same as the musical scale that we all know from pop music, but rather a special system of connecting words or separating them.
Through the Torah reading we can hear meaning in the Torah.
Below is a chart by which you may hear the Torah cantilation according to the Ashkenazi reading. Simply click on each picture and hear for yourself what it sounds like. You will be able to learn how to read the Torah by yourself.
